Dear Colleague:

You are invited to participate in our first National Winter Conference to be held this year at the lovely Ramada Plaza Beach Resort directly on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Come network with industry practitioners and academics in warm, sunny Florida. The proceedings start with an informal get-together Thursday, March 3, 2005 and a full day of sessions (including a luncheon) on Friday, March 4 2005. Adjournment will be by 5:00 PM so you can have Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday to enjoy all the activities and pleasures South Florida has to offer.

Call for Papers

You are invited to submit papers for review by our panel. We particularly encourage papers dealing with training and preparing the next generation of workers at all levels in a variety of facilities in the long-term care industry. Please send an executive summary plus the entire paper or a detailed outline no later than January 7th, 2005. Papers will be reviewed as they are received. You may email them to DRRON@aashas.org or mail them to: AASHAS Review Committee P.O. Box 811331 Boca Raton, FL 33481-1331. Selected papers from the program will be published in our newsletter. The meeting is a great chance to network and possibly have a tax-deductible mini vacation!

After late sign-in from 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM, enjoy a stimulating day of programming around the themes of ensuring the continuum of care within the health service professions and training the next generation of long-term care employees. At lunch learn more about AASHAS and how you can play an innovative role in this dynamic organization dedicated to advancing quality education. We will adjourn by 5:00 PM so you can enjoy the balance of the weekend as you wish.

Register for the conference AND join AASHAS to get the reduced conference rate and save the membership application fee.

The cost for all this including lunch on Friday and breaks on Friday is only $79. for AASHAS members and $129. for non-AASHAS members. If you join AASHAS when you register for the conference, AASHAS will waive the membership application fee. We have negotiated a group rate of $139. per room, double or single occupancy, for the weekend at the resort. To get this special rate you must call 1-800- 678-9022 and ask for reservations before February 4th, 2005. Be sure to tell them you are with the AASHAS group in order to get this special rate. If you call after February 4th 2005, you will pay the normal rate.
